Yes, chess is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as a sport. Over 100 countries recognize Chess as a sport as well. Surprisingly, the UK is one of the countries not recognizing chess as a Sport. The reason behind that it intense mental prowess and strategic thinking, similar to physical sports.
